Our Church History

In 1996, Pastor Foy, started a Bible study in his home. The Bible study group grew as did the need for a larger place. After sharing the need with a local ministry, they graciously allowed us the use of their facility. On November 6, 1996, we held our first public Bible study. After sensing the need to do something more, we prayed. In December 1996, we held our first Sunday worship service. The next year, Pastor Foy met with officials at the New Orleans Baptist Association. The results gave way to the birth of the New Life Ministry as a New Church Plant in the City of New Orleans.

After a while, we then became inspired to develop a Praise Team to lead us into the worship experience. Not long afterward, we turned our attention to the development of an educational/discipleship Program.

Approximately six months later, we launched our Sunday school program with three age-appropriate classes. Notwithstanding, that was not enough, so we begin training more teachers. Within a year, we increased our Sunday school program to seven age-appropriate classes. Before long, New Life Ministry had evolved into a full-grown ministry with various extended ministries.

After six years, God blessed us again, this time with the opportunity of purchasing our own building. The prospect of purchasing our own building generated a spirit of excitement among the members. Also, our new community afforded us the privilege of doing outreach ministry for the first time. Through the outreach ministry, we were able to develop and cultivate new relationships within that community.

The excitement of having our own place facilitated us growing into a strong healthy ministry. Unfortunately, we did not calculate Hurricane Katrina or anything like her. We assumed that time, that New Life Ministry would outlive us all. But like many other churches, we were totally unprepared for this sort of devastation. Yes, to our regret, New Life Ministry had crashed beyond repair.

The body of Christ was scattered, our homes were lost, and families were disconnected. For all practical purposes, it appeared as if New Orleans would not recover. Thank God we were wrong! God had other plans for both New Orleans and New Life Ministry. God had overruled the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

In April 2009, Pastor Foy by the will of God made a decision to reboot this awesome work of God from scratch. Thus, once again, with the support of the New Orleans Baptist Association and others, we are here today celebrating not only our 13th Year Church Anniversary. Without a doubt, it has become quite clear to the New Life Ministry Baptist Church family that God has an absolute plan for this ministry.

For this reason, we thank each of you for your labor of love and support in the reestablishing and preserving of this New Life Ministry. But most of all, we give thanks to our God who has made all of this possible for us. We have truly come to learn that, “IF GOD BE FOR US WHO CAN BE AGAINST US?” Please continue to pray for us as we prepare for whatever great things God has in store for us as we endeavor to press toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus!!!

Get to Know Our Pastor at New Beginning Ministry Incorporated

Dr. Kenneth Foy is a dedicated Pastor at the New Beginning Ministry Incorporated in Louisiana (Previously known as " New Life Ministry Baptist Church"). In April 2009, he decided to restart this ministry after the church was devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He's determined to continue doing this great work of God.

His Family Life

Aside from being a Pastor, Dr. Kenneth Foy Sr is also a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and Addiction Counselor. A Passionate and Compassionate Entrepreneur, Professor of Psychology, Counselor, Trainer, Lecturer, Fitness Instructor, Public Speaker, Life Coach, Husband, loving Father and Grandfather.

A Troubled Past

Because of Pastor Foy's continued rejection of Jesus Christ, he found himself serving over ten years in prison. While incarcerated, pastor Foy had a genuine encounter with God and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Not long after he accepted Christ, the prison was where he acknowledged and received his call to ministry. New Life Ministry Baptist Church was his previous Incorporation of more than 27 years. Pastor Foy's current Incorporation is now (NBMI), New Beginning Ministry Incorporated.

Turning His Life Around

After serving for more than 10 years in prison, Pastor Foy enrolled in the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He was ordained as a minister of the Gospel in 1997 at the Elysian Fields Baptist Church by Dr. Ken Taylor. Note that “Pastor Foy also completed ten full years of college education at NOBTS

Deciding to further his knowledge and educational background, he obtained the following degrees:

Associate’s Degree in Christian Education (May 1998)
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Pastoral Ministries (December 1999)
Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling (December 2002)
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist by the State of Louisiana (March 2005)
Doctorate in Ministry With a Specialization in Pastoral Counseling (December 2010)

Pastor Foy has been providing counseling services in a clinical and ministerial setting for more than 25 years. He combines his knowledge of spirituality, holiness, theology and psychology to offer a holistic approach to his counseling service. This includes providing education and training through seminars, workshops, and marriage seminars as well. Proofread below ⬇️

Pastor Foy provided lay counseling training for those who wish to offer such help within their ministry. Aside from this, Pastor Foy also provides biblical marriage and family therapy within his church and community. His passion for strengthening relationships, within the African American Community, has led to the creation of the "Rekindle the Fire Marriage Ministry”, alongside his wife/business partner Pastor/Lady Kenyatta Foy.

Pastor Foy defines Counseling with one word (i.e., insight). He defines insight as the ability to see into what has been hidden, distorted, or covered up. His scriptural foundation can be found in the Bible which states, Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors, there is safety (proverbs 11:14).

Associate Professor of Psychology

As a servant of God, Dr. Foy has dedicated his life to impacting the people for the glory of God. That is why he advocates for healthy living, mindfulness, and awareness that promotes both spiritual maturity, psychological wellness, emotional stability, and physical fitness.

He is experienced in providing substance abuse counseling, education, and treatment where he has developed what he calls “Eight Essentials to Recovery." His work reveals that the principles of recovery are fundamental for both the Bible and the Twelve Step programs. He calls it the faith and work principles approach to recovery.

Dr. Foy is also an Associate Professor of Psychology at Southern University in New Orleans, where he enjoys teaching young adults as well as providing them with the essential skills necessary in life. He has served there as a Professor for over (18) years.

Some of the courses that Dr. Foy teaches are Abnormal Psychology, Advance Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Family Psychology, General Psychology, Personality Theories, Seminar in Black Psychology, and Special Topics in current events in regards to Psychology. His

Divorces In His Life

Dr. Foy has been married 4 times throughout his lifetime.

Dr./Pastor Kenneth Foy Sr. longest marriage was

to his previous wife of (32 1/2 years).

Subsequent their collective decisions to part ways and ultimately divorce one another. This sequence of events germinated his now current courtship, friendship and marriage with Lady Foy.

Navigating Life’s Losses and vicissitude’s

Ecc 3:6 NKJV

"A time to gain, and a time to lose."

GODS Word neither ignores nor minimizes the painful realities of life. Inevitably, we and our loved ones will experience life’s losses:

illnesses, aging, death, divorce, disability, loss of independence, unemployment, financial reversals, etc. Today's culture prepares us for gain, but not for loss; to dance, but not to mourn (Ecc 3:4). Major losses throw us into uncharted territory. So, we need to understand the dynamics of our loss in order to help us through it and back to living life again.

Life-changing loss begins

with bereavement- the agony of feeling that something or someone indispensable to US

has been ripped away, leaving us feeling robbed. Then comes grief-searing emotions of overwhelming sorrow that are often accompanied by anger, distress, confusion, and helplessness. Next, we move into the mourning stage-and begin to express our grief and loss. This is the "hard work" stage of tears, memories, and heartrending spasms of weeping that shake us to our very core. We feel guilt and remorse over what we have said or done or not said or done. And our heartache gives those around us opportunity

to respond, offering the comfort and reassurance we need to begin healing.

This is God's protocol for healing broken hearts. At 120 B.C., the Israelites beloved leader died-leaving

behind him a grief-stricken nation (Dt 34).

And God allowed them thirty days to

moum their loss and to comfort one another before resuming the business and affairs of life. So take the time you need to do the work of mourning your losses because Jesus said,

*Blessed are they that mourm.

for they shall be comforted° (Mt 5: 4)
