I had plans for you son.

That you would be a NBA player (you were a dynamic AAU basketball player) back in the days, along with an exceptional academic background following you.

I humbly accepted your decisions & destinations.

I got pregnant at the age of 16, after a premature pregnancy and birth my child passed away.

That lost did not hinder my goals, passions nor my dreams. I went back to school transitioning from rudimentary studies to beauty college. I graduated top of my class becoming a very well known professional cosmetologist throughout Louisiana. I traveled the world competing in competitions and fashion shows.

I met your father while I was attending Stevensons Academy.

He was Uncle Shawn potna, we began dating and wedded in 1999 while I was pregnant with you.

I prayed so hard for another child.

You are the answer to my prayers.

You’re The Apple of my Eye.

Therefore I have to accept that you are now having a child at the age of 16, “ just as I did.”

My first born Son was conceived when I made 17 years old. Our history is repeating itself “your 1st child will be coming into this world when you’ve reached the tender age of Seventeen also.”

What makes our experiences different?

You have both of your parents active in your life and household, we love you infinity and beyond in the free world (outside of the steel cage).

Yet, back while I was going through my experiences, both of my parents were behind jail bars, due to felony convictions “my father for murder & my mother for a drug bust/raid.”

When my son (Anthony Walter Hathaway) passed away in 1995.

I was laying up in a hospital bed at the age of 17 years old.

What a bargain….

I found myself making adult decisions by myself, with no adult support or supervision in sight or on sight.

Should I bury my child or donate his organs?

Alone in that hallow and cold medical room at Tulane University Hospital (In New Orleans, Louisiana) my body ripped with a STD and a deceased baby laying on my chest.

There stood a host of doctors & chaplains surrounding my bed. I was brokenhearted, scared, confused and ignorant to what just happened and what was transpiring right before my eyes.

I held my son dead carcass and cried.

That was my third traumatic encounter with death, (Uncle Walter & Cousin Eugene was murdered)

within the exact same year.

I said all of that to say this.

I humbly accept that fact that GOD has allowed our history to repeat itself.

SON You are my blessing from Heaven.

You are my heartbeat outside of my body.

You are my precious jewel

My diamond in the rough 💎

You are my very first miracle child

I was told that I could not have any more children.

You have something special.

That I was not awarded.

I did not have both of my parents growing up to provide love, guidance, support or help.

I graciously accept the fact that “you are my child having your own child.”

I remind myself often that your story will not turn out like mine. You were raised with both sides of your parents households collectively and actively engaging with each other.

I accept the fact that we are being judged by the public.

I accepted the facts of loosing friends and family members on count you.

You’ We’re Mine Then, Now and Forever ♾️

Our community placed a label on you my child and persecuted us as a whole, at the same time we were all bound by religion so whipty-doo!

But your dad & I were there to carry that burden for you without a fuss. All we asked in return is that “you stand your ground and be the brave and wise young man we taught you to be.”

Go to school, attend church and take care of your responsibilities. Be all that you can be. We’ve not only gained a daughter but also a beautiful healthy granddaughter in the process “ (Ki'Lani Armani Williams ~ 6 pounds, 15 ounces, & 20 inches long

What others would consider as a huge mess. We embraced as our message of Unity, Love & Hope. We were able to connect with a family that shared the same beliefs, morals and principles. I say we all were & are blessed and highly favored. The gifts and callings of God are without repentance. We all are here for you guy's and will continue to impart love, guidance, direction, and correction. That's why I have and had no choice but to Accept and to have Acceptance.🙏🏾 BECAUSE I LOVE YOU 💯

“Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal.” Philippians 3:13–14 (ESV)

YOU CAN’T CARRY EVERYTHING INTO THE NEXT SEASON

Every season leaves something behind. Some things are beautiful memories, lessons, relationships, victories, and evidence of God’s faithfulness. Other things are painful disappointments, failures, regrets, offenses, and unanswered questions. The danger is assuming that because something happened in a previous season, it must continue governing the next one.

Paul had both accomplishments and regrets he could have carried forward, yet he refused to build his future around either. “Forgetting what lies behind” does not mean erasing memory. It means refusing to allow the past to become the controlling reference point for present obedience. We remember what God taught us without remaining imprisoned by what happened to us.

Take the wisdom. Keep the testimony. Learn from the failure. Treasure what was good. But do not drag every wound, regret, offense, and old identity into what God is doing now. You can carry the lesson without carrying the weight.

PRACTICAL REFLECTION

What from my previous season is still influencing the way I am entering this one?

TODAY’S PRACTICE

Draw two simple columns: “Take With Me” and “Leave Behind.” Put one lesson, truth, or testimony in the first column and one regret, offense, or unnecessary weight in the second. Pray over both.

LET’S PRAY

Heavenly Father, thank You for what You have taught me through every season. Through Your Holy Spirit, help me carry forward the wisdom without carrying forward unnecessary weight. Jesus, free me from whatever in my past is trying to govern my present obedience. Help me press forward with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
