Meditation is a practice in which an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – it’s to train our attention and awareness, and in doing so we will achieve a physically, mentally, psychologically clear and emotionally calm and stable state. Meditation is practiced in numerous religious traditions and methods.



• Posture. How you sit, stand or lay down, and being comfortable while you are meditating is very important. ...


• Your physical and mental state. Before and while meditating it is best to be relaxed both mentally and physically. ...


• Environmental meditation, simply put, is using the different elements of our environment as objects of meditation in order to effect the transformation of our consciousness, and move us into a state of balanced communion with the Earth....


• Breath Meditation is all about Mindful breathing it’s a very basic yet powerful mindfulness meditation practice. The idea is simply to focus your attention on your breathing—to its natural rhythm and flow and the way it feels on each inhale and exhale....


• Focus meditation, also known as focused attention meditation (FAM), is a type of mindfulness meditation that can help increase your awareness of the present moment. Rather than attempt to empty the mind, this meditation style involves focusing your attention on an object or physical sensation, such as your breathing...

Mindfulness and meditation can moderate emotional arousal intensity when one is stressed. They also increase the levels of endorphins, serotonin, DHEA, GABA and HGH, secretions that reduce the effects of cortisol, which is the main stress ...meditation, Private religious devotion or mental exercise, in which techniques of concentration and contemplation are used to reach a heightened level of spiritual awareness. The practice has existed in all religions since ancient times.

There are nine popular types of meditation practice:That I will break down for you. And they are:



Not all meditation styles are right for everyone. These practices require different skills and mindsets. How do you know which practice is right for you?





Power

Meditation and mindfulness induce a heightened state of awareness and focused attention. Various studies demonstrate the practice can help relieve stress — as well as manage anxiety, depression, reduce inflammation, and improve memory and attention, to boot.


Spiritual Meditation

We meditate to give God our full attention. To build strong discipline & willpower, you must master your mind. The Bible encourages followers of God to keep their thoughts fixed on whatever is true, honorable, right, and pure (Philippians 4:8). We are called to take every thought captive and teach them to obey God. Practicing Christian meditation may help you train yourself to maintain a righteous mindset.


Focused Meditation

Focus meditation, also known as focused attention meditation (FAM), is a type of mindfulness meditation that can help increase your awareness of the present moment. Rather than attempt to empty the mind, this meditation style involves focusing your attention on an object or physical sensation, such as your breathing.


Movement Meditation

Movement meditation is an active form of meditation, wherein the movement helps you make a deeper connection with your body and the present moment. This type of meditation is good for people who have a hard time sitting still or finding peace in action.


Mantra Meditation

Mantra-based meditation (MBM) generally involves the continuous repetition of a word, phrase, or set of syllables (either silently or aloud) with or without religious/spiritual content.


Transcendental Meditation

With the Transcendental Meditation program, also called the TM program, you silently repeat a mantra in your head. The focus of the Transcendental Meditation technique is to settle your body down to a state of restful alertness.


Progressive Relaxation Meditation

Progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) is a relaxation technique. It involves tensing and then relaxing your muscles, one by one. This helps you release physical tension, which may ease stress and anxiety.


Loving~Kindness Meditation

Loving-kindness meditation (sometimes called “metta” meditation) is a great way to cultivate our propensity for kindness. It involves mentally sending goodwill, Charity, kindness, and warmth towards others by silently repeating a series of mantras.


Visualization Meditation

Visualization meditation focuses on the use of guided imagery to cultivate certain psychological qualities. The foundations of meditation remain the same as for other non-visual forms, such as ensuring the posture supports a straight spine, whether sitting, standing, or lying down.





In the KJ Bible, meditation is used 42 times and contemplation is used 25 times. In Psalm 46:10-11 , we are admonished to "be still and know that I am God." So why do so few Christians meditate or sit in contemplative stillness?


Did Jesus Meditate?

Well Of Course !


The Bible uses meditation as deep contemplation, a turning over and around in the mind to gain greater understanding and be changed by God's truth. True, meditation is a tool of learning that can be abused. Yet, instead of avoiding it, we should use it with care, biblical understanding, humility and respect.


Jesus gained strength and discernment in meditation

Before Jesus appointed the 12 who would be his apostles, Luke 6 tells us, “One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. Prayers and Supplications were two of his forms of meditation…


The Bible mentions meditate or meditation 23 times, 19 times in the Book of Psalms alone. When the Bible mentions meditation, it often mentions obedience in the next breath. The Bible mentions 23 occurrences of some translation of meditate: 19 of them appear in the Psalms, and of the 23, 20 refer specifically to meditating on the Lord in some way. We are told to meditate on his actions, law, or testimonies – all of which are found within his Word.
